TEMPORARY CLOSURE/DELAYS OF
Town of Jay Officials were informed Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 after engineered bridge inspection that the County owned Grove/Rolling Mill Bridge in Au Sable Forks, NY will be temporary closed with lengthy delays on Thursday August 30th from 8am – 5pm. The closure is for temporary shoring of the bridge abutments. This temporary repair will keep the bridge open until more permanent repairs can be completed. No weight limit posting is being considered at this time. It is believed the damage was the result of Hurricane Irene.
There will be long delays (up to 45 minutes) because it is highly recommended that the work be accomplished without traffic on the bridge.
Should there be an emergency need to cross the bridge it will be quickly be made available. Residents will see a message board that is being installed Wednesday morning to advise of the long delays for the repairs.
The bridge will need to be closed for a day in the near future for soil testing. Once that date is scheduled, we will communicate the date to the public and another message board will be set to advertise the closure.
